Tribe For Business: Punk Rock Yoga!

Here is the first installment of our "Tribe For Business Success Stories". I have received lots of great feedback from Tribe community members who have used the site to help enhance their business' bottom line. The first one that I would like to showcase is Kimberlee ( people.tribe.net/tribe/ser...59c03706eb ), a Tribe member since March 2005, who runs "Punk Rock Yoga" ( www.punkrockyoga.com ).

In Kimberlee's own words, Punk Rock Yoga is "a fun fusion of yoga in unconventional spaces with live music and a modern, DIY approach to yoga philosophy. I have used Tribe for my marketing efforts and I have increased attendance by 10% from using Tribe. Most importantly, Tribe has enabled me to find quality musicians. I have had so many musicians respond to my posts on Tribe and they have been wonderful. I have also used My Space to find musicians, and almost everyone who came to me through My Space flaked on me by not showing up the night they were scheduled. Everyone who came to me through Tribe was responsible, showed up on time and kicked ass. I have used Tribe to connect with musicians integral to my yoga business and it has been wonderful."

She further explained to me, "Just to make it clear, it's not yoga to punk music, instead, it's a punk/radical/diy approach to yoga philosophy, with live music, community building, some experimental classes, etc." Once again, we see it demonstrated that online communities are the most effective when they cross over into the real world.

This is a great example of using Tribe not only to find potential customers, but also to find other creative people to collaborate with in your endeavor, whatever it may be. Kimberlee even found a fellow Tribe member, Brian ( people.tribe.net/1edccaff-...c044c88fae ) to run the NYC edition of Punk Rock Yoga. She also has a tribe for her business (at tribes.tribe.net/punkrockyoga ) but "it's a small one, and I use it just for announcements." Small or not, we find this to be a great use for a tribe, and a great way to stay in touch with your customers, fans, colleagues, and friends.

What's next for Punk Rock Yoga? Well, according to her tribe ( tribes.tribe.net/punkrocky...5f13389718 ), Kimberlee has just appeared in Oprah magazine, as well as in Bust, and is now looking to get her book published as well. Good luck Kimberlee!

If you would like to learn more about Punk Rock Yoga, check out Kimberlee's mission statement ( punkrockyoga.com/mission.php ). Thanks to Kimberlee for sharing her success story. If you have any of your own, please feel free to send them to me (at sanfrancisco.tribe.net/messages/compose )
