Tribe.net is looking for a qualified Web Application Engineer professional contractor, to perform bug fixes and additions to our codebase for the site. Knowledge of Apache/Tomcat/MySQL is expected. The role will provide the opportunity to take the lead in feature development and debugging. We're looking for a programming expert who understands the Tribe community and how important it has become to the people who participate in it. This position would be at least 20 hours of work per week.

Job requirements:

- BS degree or relevant experience in Computer Science or related technical field
- experience working on large-scale, multi-user, public websites
- 5+ years Java experience including: JSP, JSTL, JavaBeans, Servlets, JDBC
- Strong working knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Strong working knowledge of MySQL
- Strong working knowledge of web application servers and frameworks such as Tomcat, Turbine, etc.
- Experience using code management and build tools such as Subversion and Ant
- Experience using web based bug and issue trackers such as TRAC
- Able to comfortably navigate a Unix environment

The ideal applicant also has the following skills:

- Shell scripting using Perl, bash, etc.
- Experience/interest in social networking sites
